Music is and important and integral part of worship at Jubilee United Church. A father of the church, St. Augustine is quoted as writing, “To sing is to pray, twice,” and we at Jubilee take that saying to heart!
Each worship service begins and ends with singing … and there’s usually quite a bit interspersed within the service as well! Being an intergenerational congregation, we understand the value in both traditional and contemporary worship styles, and in crafting every service, effort is taken to create a balance that will, at the very least, have something that can appeal to the worship style of everyone – whether it be singing a favourite roof-raising hymn accompanied on our 3-manual organ or by singing a contemporary song of worship that’s a bit more toe-tapping … you’ll find there’s something for YOU here!
Music for our worship services is currently provided by a variety of accompanists. The choir has typically met weekly on Thursday evenings to rehearse and prepare to help in the leading of the music each Sunday, and they have a lot of fun doing it! From singing traditional, classical choral anthems to barn-burning gospel songs, this versatile group of singers love lifting their voices in worship, have built a strong community together, but are always welcoming of anyone who might feel called to love and serve God with their voices!
